Delete your profile
Bricktrench has no username, email or password. The game creates a pseudonymous player profile with a random display name on first launch. Deleting it is something you do yourself, on the deletion form, in the browser game and in the Android app (package ch.bricktren.beta) alike.
How to delete your profile
Two things identify a profile as yours: its public ID and its deletion key. You were shown both when the player was created. Type them on the deletion form and the deletion is scheduled.
- If you still have the game: open the player card in the lobby menu, open Accounts & devices, and choose Get deletion key. It shows the public ID and a fresh key together, once, with a link to the form. Asking for a new key stops the previous one working.
- If you no longer have the game but kept the pair: go straight to the deletion form and type them in. The form needs nothing else — no app, no sign-in.
- The profile then keeps working for 14 days. Every device signed in to it shows the date. After that the profile is erased.
Changed your mind? Any device signed in to the player with full access can cancel, and so can the same form with the same key. Nothing is deleted during the 14 days.
If you have neither the game nor your key
Then we cannot tell that the profile is yours, and we will not act on it. There is no name, email or payment behind a Bricktrench player to check against — that is the point of it — so anyone could name any public ID. Deleting a stranger's player on request would be the worse failure. Under Art. 11 and Art. 12(6) GDPR we are not required to obtain more data about you in order to identify you, and we would rather not.
info@bricktren.ch is our contact address for questions about this page and about the Datenschutzerklärung. It is not a deletion channel.
What is deleted
- The player profile: public ID, display name, name choices, avatar appearance.
- Every device registration and session authorising a device to use the profile, and the devices themselves once nothing else uses them.
- Friends, friend requests, likes, blocks, mutes, availability and invite records on either side.
- Push notification subscriptions and the record of what was sent to them.
- Your deletion keys, including the one you used.
- Passkeys registered for the profile, once that feature exists. The copy in your platform's password manager is yours to remove.
What is kept, and why
- Match and round statistics, and your skill rating, under an internal identifier that no longer belongs to anyone. They carry no name, no public ID and nothing else that points at a person, and once the profile is gone there is nothing left to connect them to you — so what stays is a record of games that were played, not of who played them. This is what keeps other people's match history intact: a round five people played is not four people and a gap.
- Moderation records that name your public ID and display name, if any moderation action was ever taken on or by your profile. An accountability record its subject can erase is not one (Art. 17(3)(e) GDPR). They are not linked to any other data once the profile is gone.
- A record that the deletion happened — the dates it was requested and carried out, under that same internal identifier and nothing else. It is what makes the 14 days above auditable after the profile it was about is gone.
- Backups of the game database are overwritten on a rolling schedule. A deleted profile disappears from every backup within 30 days of the deletion.
Data stored only on your own device (the profile token, settings and cached game files in your browser or the app) is yours: the game clears its own copy when the deletion runs, and you can clear the site data in your browser or uninstall the app at any time.
Deleting some data without deleting the profile
You can do the following yourself, inside the game, at any time:
- Remove individual devices or sign out all devices in the Devices panel.
- Remove friends, blocks and mutes in the Friends panel.
- Switch off push notifications, which deletes the subscription on the server.
- Change your display name and appearance in the lobby.
For anything else, for example wiping your match history while keeping the profile, write to info@bricktren.ch. The full data protection notice is the Datenschutzerklärung (German).
